[Class 122 (ii)] A cam valve gear is provided with a no-load operating cam I, which may be an eccentric or approximate thereto, giving an admission lead VE far in advance of the piston dead-centre T, e.g. 84 per cent of the stroke, and closing the valve at F far beyond the dead-centre, e.g. at 94 per cent of the stroke. The cam is mounted on the same shaft as the efficient operation cam 2 and is brought into action by moving the shaft axially.
