481,492. Valve gear. MICKELSEN, V., and REBBECK, F. E. Oct. 13, 1937, No. 27805. [Class 7 (vi)] A piston valve 2 controlling exhaust ports 3 in an extension 11 of the cylinder of a twostroke engine is held in its innermost position as shown, during the latter part of the compression stroke and the first part of the working stroke, by a slide 6 actuated by a grooved cam 5, the cylinder pressure acting on the valve being taken up by guides 9 for the slide. At a certain point on the working stroke, when the cylinder pressure has considerably diminished, the valve is forced outwards by the cylinder pressure into a recess 8 in the slide 6.
