Spring gears operating in both directions.-The distributing-valve a of an engine, pump, or compressor, is operated in both directions by spring gear acting on a T-shaped lever c. A reciprocating frame f secured to a rod i carrying tappets j, k engaged by the cross-head l, is provided with spring-pressed pawls g, h which escape through openings in the stationary guide e at each end of the stroke of the frame and move the lever c.
