[Class 7 (vi)] A sleeve valve, or as shown a piston valve E, is actuated from a crank or eccentric pin B<1> which is embraced by a connecting-knuckle 2 having bearing-surfaces C<1> and C<11> engaging corresponding surfaces formed in a member 3 connected to the valve and sliding in guides 4. The surfaces C<1>, C<11> are of spherical formation. In the case of a sleeve valve, the crank-shaft B<1> is arranged at one side of the lower end of the valve.
