Abstract
370,789. Valve gear. BRITISH CONTINENTAL MOTORS, Ltd., 150, St. Vincent Street, Glasgow. Aug. 18, 1931, No. 23209. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1930. [Class 7 (vi).] A sleeve valve 18 is given a combined oscillating. and reciprocating motion by means of a wobble cranked valve shaft 25, each crank of which is composed of a pair of spaced ball members 27. The cranks may be connected to the valves by forked arms 30 also having a ball connection 35 with the valve. The pair of balls 27 are spaced radially, or angularly, or both radially and angularly, with respect to each other in order to give the wobble action. The axis of generation of each ball member 27 is parallel to the shaft axis, in order to facilitate machining.
