Abstract

598,721. Impedance networks. HORNER. K. W. Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23073. [Class 40 (iii)] A wide-band coupling comprises two transformers 1, 2, tuned by condensers 10, 11, 12, 13, and having the primary coil of the transformer 1 coupled to the secondary coil of the transformer 2 by means of a common shunt condenser 4, while the other two coils are coupled, by means of a common reactance 3. The passband has a small peak at the wide-band frequency when the reactance 3 is an inductance, and a small dip when the reactance 3 is a capacitance. This peak or dip may be used to operate a tuning indicator, or may be reduced or eliminated by insertion of a resistance at 14. By means of a switch 5 the coupling condenser 4 may be cut out, to produce high selectivity, a condenser 9 being inserted to prevent detuning of the transformer 2.
