Abstract

479,788. Impedance networks. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Dec. 15, 1936, No. 34402. Convention date, April 27. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] An image-suppressor circuit for connecting a superheterodyne receiver alternatively to a high-impedance antenna A or a low-impedance transmission line TL is provided with a circuit C, L, C1 tunable to the signal frequency and a coupling C2, S, C1 fixedly tuned to a frequency substantially below the undesired frequency, so that the undesired signal is attenuated more than the desired signal both by the shunt condenser C1 and bv the series inductance L. The secondary S, with 100 turns in a particular example, is earthed through a blocking-condenser C2 and is closed-coupled to a 600-turn primary P and 100-turn primary P1, all three coils being on the same closely wound former. When the aerial is to be used it is connected to terminal a and terminal d is earthed, the input impedance across terminals a, d being high. When the transmission line T, L is to be used it is connected to terminals b, d, and the midtapping c of the primary P1 is earthed; the input impedance across terminals b, d is then low, to match the line TL.
