609,824. Impedance networks. COURSEY, P. R., SNELL, L. J., STEATITE & PORCELAIN PRODUCTS, Ltd., and DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925), Ltd. Oct. 2, 1945, No. 25565. [Class 40 (viii)] [Also in Group XL (c)] In a band-pass filter or aerial coupling having automatic control of selectivity, a voltage-sensitive condenser having a ceramic dielectric based on compounds of titanium and alkaline-earth metals, as described in Specifications 574,577 and 601,109, [both in Group XXXVI], forms part of a circuit whose natural frequency consequently depends on the voltage applied. An amplifier with automatic selectivity-control may comprise a bandpass filter 33, 34, Fig. 5, in which as the signalstrength increases the band width is widened by the action of the voltage-sensitive condenser 32. A similar result is obtained by using the voltage-sensitive condenser as a series arm coupling two tuned circuits, Fig. 7 (not shown), or as at 43 in an aerial coupling, Fig. 8. The Specification describes several other network arrangements.
