Abstract

609,231. Wave filters. JAMES, G. S. Jan. 7, 1946, No. 545. [Class 40 (viii)] Reactances such as resonant circuits 11, 17 and 18, which may be connected at quarterwave intervals in shunt to a coaxial or twinconductor transmission line to form a bandpass or band-stop filter. In a band-stop filter, each comprise a short-circuited outer coaxial stub 12, 14, slightly longer than a quarter of a wavelength, and a short-circuited inner coaxial stub 14, 13, slightly shorter than a quarter of a wavelength, the open-end reactances of the two together forming a series-resonant circuit in shunt across the line. The middle cylinder 14 and the short-circuiting pistons 15, 16, may be adjustable, Fig. 3 (not shown). Reactances may be similarly connected across a twinconductor line.
