Abstract
595,098. Impedance-matching. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. June 12, 1945, No. 14935. Convention date, June 13, 1944. [Class 40 (iii)] The reactance presented between the points 13, 23 at the end of a compound coaxial resonator, is transformed by the length l of coaxial line 11, 21 from that between the points 10, 37 ; and the latter comprises the capacitive reactance between the points 37, 35 (which is that of a short length of the open-circuited line 21, 27) in series with the inductive reactance between the points 35, 10 (which is that of a short length of shortcircuited line 27, 11, the short-circuit being provided by the conductive cap 19). The overall length of the compound resonator is a quarter of a wavelength, and the reactance at 13, 23 can be given any inductive value between zero and infinity by turning the knob 29 of the screw-threaded length 27. A pair of feeders 47, 49, Fig. 3, connected to aerials can be matched to a feeder 39, connected to equipment, by adjusting two such resonators 41, 43, spaced at quarter-wavelength intervals.
