Abstract
608,738. Aerial coupling arrangements. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 1, 1946, No. 6358. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1945. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to transmission line arrangements for transferring ratio frequency power from an unbalanced to a balanced circuit. In one embodiment, the two balanced coaxial lines 11 and 13 are connected in series and feed loads Z, Z<1>. A sleeve 1 surrounds the final quarter wavelength section of line 13, being closed at the remote end by a disc 7 connected to its outer conductor. The source E feeds the unbalanced line 5, of surge impedance Zo, which is connected through a half wavelength section of line 15 of surge impedance Zc. Across the junction of lines 5, 15 is connected a shortcircuited quarter-wave stub 17 of surge impedance Zs, equal to that of the stub 1, 13. The inner conductor of section 15 is connected to the outer conductor of line 13, and the outer conductors of section 15 and line 11 are connected to the sleeve 1. It is stated that efficient conversion is obtained throughout a broad band of frequencies if the quantity Zc/Zo has a value within the range 90 to 100 per cent of that of the quantity In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the stub 17 and line section 15 are omitted.
