Abstract

934,912. Matching impedances. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGSG.m.b.H. Jan. 4, 1962 [Jan. 14, 1961], No. 378/62. Class 40 (8). A broad-band coaxial line to waveguide coupling comprises a length 6 of coaxial line extending through the narrow wall of a rectangular waveguide 1, having an outer conductor which makes contact with one broad wall of the waveguide over a distance equal to a quarter of a guide wavelength (#g/4) and an inner conductor having a right-angled extension 7 making contact with the other broad wall of the guide. The coaxial line may be of square cross-section. Extensions 8, 10 of the inner conductor and a capacitative tuning screw 9 improve the impedance matching. A further tuning screw 11 arranged at a distance #g/8 from the end of the inner conductor provides additional adjustment. The distance c between the outer conductor of the coaxial line and the face of the waveguide with which it is not in contact is made less than #g/10.
