Abstract
598,714. Tube expanders. ROSS, Ltd., S. G., and AUGUST, F. C. Sept. 6, 1945, No. 23023. [Class 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A drifting-tool for expanding the end of a pipe 7 to the shape of a collar 16 comprises an outer stem portion 22 having a flange 23 which presents a radial face to the pipe end, a body portion 24 of diameter equal to the required bore of the pipe end, and a coned part 25 corresponding to the coned part of the collar. A terminating guide part 26 of the same diameter as the pipe bore may be fitted. In use, the collar is placed flush with the pipe end and the tool inserted and hammered home.
