Abstract

591,253. Furniture joints. GARBE, P. E., and AIRCRAFT STEEL STRUCTURES, Ltd. May 4, 1945, No. 11357. [Class 52 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A jointing means for the tubes 1 of tubular furniture has a central portion 3 with tommybar holes 4 and two spigots 5, one with a left handed thread and the other a right handed thread, which engage the tapered plugs 6 so that when the central portion is turned the plugs are drawn inwards thus expanding the split sockets 7 and the tubes 1 so that they are tightly gripped within the outer sleeve 2. Slots 4a are supplied in the outer sleeve to align with the tommy-bar holes 4.
