Abstract

737,562. Tube joints. GRILL FLOORS, Ltd. March 10, 1953 [Dec. 10, 1951], No. 28924/51. Class 99 (1). A connecter for joining three or more tubes, particularly for hand-rails, comprises two similar members B1, B2 having semicylindrical branches extending into the tubes A, the connecter being expanded to grip the tubes by at least one screw 20 which screws into the member B1, has a shoulder 28 abutting the member B2, and has an unthreaded pin 24 engaging a hole 26 in the member B2. The shoulder 28 lies in a shallow recess 30. The pin 24 has a keyhole for turning the screw which is preferably left-handed. For joining four tubes the connecter has a central screw, a pair of aligned branches 10, 14, Fig. 2, and a pair of aligned branches (not shown) perpendicular to the branches 10, 14. Three tubes are joined by a connecter C, Fig. 3, of T-shape in which the screw 20 is located on the axis of the leg 36 and offset from the axis of the head 38. Specification 694,053 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
