Abstract

545,887. Joints for tubular structures. FOSTER BROS., Ltd., and FOSTER, K. D. March 12, 1941, No. 3399. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group X] A joint for connecting tubes transversely to one another, for example, in railings, footpath barriers &c. comprises a plug 1 fixed in the end of one tube 4 and provided with a screwed extension 2, Fig. 1, to engage a threaded hole 6 in the other tube 5, or screwthreaded to engage a bolt 12, Fig. 2, passing through the other tube 5, a saddle piece 7 of oval form being interposed between the two tubes and forward with a socket 9 shouldered at 10 to receive the end of the tube 4. The socket 9 may be inclined for the oblique attachment of one tube to another. Two tubes 4 may be secured by a single bolt at opposite sides of the tube 5.
