Abstract

589,587. Hose end fittings. BELL'S ASBESTOS & ENGINEERING, Ltd., and HEALD, J. E. March 26, 1945, No. 7598. [Class 99 (i)] An end fitting for a hose 21 has a tubular extension, with a flanged end 2, of substantially uniform outside diameter machined with the barbs 4 and an inside diameter which tapers inwardly towards its inner end, the extension being expanded within the hose against a non- expansible sleeve 22 by a tapered drift 10. The inner end of the tubular extension is grooved to receive the packing ring 7 and is flared to assist the entry of the drift and to prevent splitting. The inner bore of the tube 22 may be formed with helical ribs of corresponding shape to the outside of the hose 21 so as to make a snug and screw fit on to the hose. Expanding means other than that of a tapered drift may be used.
