Abstract

585,945. Pipe joints. SCOTTISH AVIATION, Ltd., and BURNARD, F. W. Dec. 18, 1945, No. 34348. [Class 99 (i)] Two pipes 10 and 11 of different diameters are joined by means of a reducing nipple 12 which has one portion cylindrical and adapted to be inserted in the larger diameter pipe 10 until the latterabuts against the corrugation 13 to which it is soldered or brazed, and a second tapering portion which engages the exterior of the enlarged end of the smaller diameter pipe 11 and is soldered or brazed thereto. The nipple may be formed from a short length of tubing of diameter approximately equal to the mean of the diameters of the pipes.
