Abstract
596,729. Flexible tubing. BROOKE, H. F., and MEYER, J. Aug. 1, 1945, Nos. 19774/45 and 14399/46. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii)] Flexible tubing for conveying gas and fluids is made up of two (1, 2) or more interfitted tubes of material such as rubber and is fitted with a connector end consisting of a metal bush 3 with a flange 4 which covers the end of the tube and a resilient sleeve 5 which is pushfitted on the tube, its other end being adapted for connection to a gas-point or the like. A spirally-wound wire 6 may be provided inside the innermost tube and inside (as shown) or outside the bush, intermediately of any of the tubes, or externally of the composite tube. When making such tubing, the inner tube is slid over a mandrel of slightly less diameter than the bore of the tube, or the wire, and one end of it is gripped between a core and a sleeve member, the other end being fixed to the holder of the mandrel ; with the inner tube thus held taut an outer tube can easily be drawn or slid on to it.
