Abstract

596,599. Fluid-pressure servomotorcontrol systems. CRASKE, A. H. March 29, 1945, Nos. 7898 and 21420. [Class 135] [Also in Group XXVII] An extra-air valve 21 supplying air to the induction pipe of an internal-combustion engine is opened by fluid under pressure acting on a plunger 29 having a cup-leather packing 30. The supply of the fluid, e.g. pressure lubricant from the engine lubricating system, is controlled by a pair of parallel valves 35 arranged so that, when one is open, the other is closedj The valves are operated by a pair of arms 40 on a bell-crank lever having an arm 38 which is attracted by a solenoid 12 against an adjustable spring 39. The circuit of the solenoid includes the gravity actuated switch, which closes when the vehicle is heading down hill or suddenly decelerated, and switches which are connected to the accelerator and brake pedals so as to be closed when these pedals are free. The circuit also includes a main switch, and a light indicating when it is closed.
