Abstract
595,947. Generating combustion products under pressure; stoking furnaces. AKT,-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. July 10, 1945, No. 17625. Convention date, July 10, 1944, [Class 51 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A gas turbine plant is operated by gases produced in the burning under pressure of refuse. The refuse may be burnt in gas-producers and the producer-gas burnt with air in the combustion chamber of the turbine or it may be burnt in furnaces delivering hot working gas to the turbine. In the plant shown, two furnaces h furnish hot working gas for a turbine c which drives a compresser i and an electricity gener-. ator n. The gases exhausted from the turbine, are led by a pipe d to a refuse dryer b and pass to a chimney f. The dried refuse is admitted to the furnaces h through air-locks g. The slag is discharged through air-locks m. It may be removed, in part, in a liquid condition, or, it may be quenched in a water tank in connection with the furnace chamber.
