621,610. Gas turbine plant. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. March 14,1947, No. 7194. Convention date, April 12, 1946. [Class 110(iii)] Water gas, as a fuel for a gas turbine, is made in a producer 1 operating with highpressure superheated steam and is expanded down to the pressure of the gas turbine combustion chamber 7 in an additional turbine 6 which provides useful power. Water supplied by a feed pump 8 is evaporated in a boiler 5 heated by the turbine exhaust and is superheated in the cooling spaces of the producer 1. Air for the combustion chamber is pre-heated in a heat-exchanger 4. The producer may be heated by the whole or part of the gases from the combustion chamber. In the latter case, the part is further compressed to provide for the pressure drop in the producer, or, the products of combustion are delivered to an intermediate point in the turbine. Two or more producers operating in sequence 1A, 1B, Fig. 3, are provided with pre-heated combustion air from the turbine compressor 2, during the heating periods, and discharge the products of combustion either to the turbine direct, or, to the turbine combustion chamber 7. The water gas generated in the intervening periods is expanded in turbine 6 in front of the combustion chamber 7. The heating shell of the producer may form the turbine combustion chamber.
