Abstract
595,701. Compound sheet materials. JICWOOD, Ltd., BUCHANAN, C. H., and POLOVTSEFF, B. May 18, 1945, No. 12638. [Classes 96 and 140] A light-weight composite material consists of a board made from waste wood and hydrated paper pulp as described in Specification 595,474 to one or both surfaces of which is glued or cemented a layer or layers of sheet material such as wood veneer, plywood, metal, impregnated or non-impregnated paper or cardboard, fabric, synthetic resinous sheeting, or a combination of two or more of these. Liquid, powdered or film glue may be used as adhesive. Shaped slabs may be made by pressing between moulds. Stiffeners of wood or other material may be included in the core or backing. The material is suitable for heat- and soundinsulation.
