Abstract
595,687. Manure distributers. WHITE, G. J. Feb. 1, 1945, No. 2552. [Class 6 (i)] [Also in Group XXX] An apparatus for discharging solid material from a container 2 mounted on a vehicle comprises feed screws 10 pivotally mounted within the container so as to engage the upper surface of the material, the screws being adapted to be lowered uniformly by means associated with the wheels 3 of the vehicle so as to maintain contact with the material as its level falls during the travel of the vehicle. The vehicle is in the form of a trailer and is provided with vaned distributing discs 63 driven from the wheels 3. Inside the container 2 are mounted two parallel feed screws 10 also driven through gearing, from the wheels 3. The shafts 8 carrying the feed screws are provided with universal joints 11 so that, by means of a winch 26, cable 21 and pulleys 22, 23, the screws may be raised or lowered manually within the container. By means of a clutch 34 the winch may be geared to the land wheels so that the feed mechanism is automatically lowered as the vehicle progresses. The material is fed rearwardly through a gate valve in the floor of the container, controlled by a lever 83, to fall through shoots 80 on to the discs 63. Shrouds 65 carried on pivoted arms limit the area of distribution of the material.
