Abstract
643,880. Portable conveyers. GREFFE, F. Sept. 8, 1947, No. 24668. Convention date, June 25, 1946. [Class 78 (i)] In a portable conveyer of the kind including a carriage and a hopper mounted thereon which feeds an endless conveyer for transferring material from the hopper to the head of a jib pivoted on the carriage, the conveyer is both supported on the jib and passes around part of the carriage. The jib 12 is mounted on pivots 14 on the carriage 1 and is provided with a folding shoot 15 at its head. The hopper 4 is provided with a rear panel 6 which can be dropped about a horizontal hinge axis and side panels 7 which can be pivoted outwards about hinges 29 to adjust the width of the hopper mouth. The endless conveyer comprises a bucket chain 13 passed over a head sprocket 20, driven from a motor 5 on the carriage with a shaft 18 extending between the pivots 14, and a lower sprocket on the carriage beneath the hopper, and is suitably guided to receive material from the hopper and elevate it. The jib is adjusted by means of a cable, one end of which is secured to the axle 2 of one of the carriage wheels, and which passes over pulleys .30 on a cross-member 17 and pulleys on axle 2, to a manually-operated winch 16.
