Abstract
652,875. Loading and unloading vehicles ; endless chain conveyers. BRINKWORTH, R. H. Sept. 18, 1947, No. 25515. [Classes 78 (i) and 78 (iv)] Baled or loose hay is loaded and unloaded from a motor vehicle by a power-operated endless conveyer 7 hinged to a framing 1, 1a, 1b, 1c above the vehicle so as to extend forwardly from the vehicle, manually operated means being provided to enable it to be lowered to rest on the ground or to be raised to an elevated position. The conveyer arm 3 comprises angle iron members 5, braced by diagonal strip and hinged at 4 to upper guide rails-1c. A pair of endless chains 7 connected by slats passes over sprockets 11 on the arm 3 and sprockets 8 on a shaft 9 driven, through a gearbox 12 having both forward and reverse drives, from a petrol motor 14. The conveyer is raised to elevated position by a stay frame 20 pivoted at 20a to the front uprights 1a and carrying a roller 20b engaging the arm 3, the frame 20 being connected by a cable 15 passing over a pulley 16a to a handoperated winch 17. A fork 21a at the front of the conveyer is adapted to engage under the load and to be raised by a cable 24 about a pivot in side plates 22 to move the load on to the conveyer.
