Abstract

911,532. Gantries for unloading vehicles. ASSOCIATED PORTLAND CEMENT MANUFACTURERS Ltd. June 21, 1961 [June 22, 1960], No. 22521/61. Class 78 (4). Bulk material 8, Fig. 1, is unloaded from a waggon 3 by a shovel 7 on an articulated boom 6 which is supported by a wheeled platform 1 in such a way that the machine operator has a clear view of the shovel in operation. As described the boom is hydraulically operated and the platform may be self-propelled. Material may be unloaded on to a conveyer 12 via a shoot 13 movable on rails 15. The shoot may be mounted on the platform. In addition to the shoot the receiving end of a conveyer 18, Fig. 3, may be supported by the platform. The delivery end of the conveyer may be fixed or may travel with the platform. The conveyer drive may be separate or taken from the power supply to the shovel. The platform is preferably electrically driven through reduction-gear 21, Fig. 4, and a chain 20. Alternatively an hydraulic motor could be used. The platform is anchored to the track by a pair of jaws 23, Fig. 7, which are raised into engagement with a rail 11 when a wedge-shaped member 28 is urged under a roller 26 pivoted to the jaws. The wedge 28 may be moved by a ram 28, Fig. 4. The platform may have road-wheels or endless tracks.
