Abstract

1275938 Unloading rail waggons TOPPS PATENTS Ltd 26 Sept 1969 [27 Sept 1968] 47450/69 Heading B8E Apparatus for discharging loose material from a confined space such as a rail waggon comprises a carriage 1 movable on rails 5 towards the side of a waggon and mounting a conveyer 7 supported in bearings in a sub-frame 22 raisable on the carriage 1 by a winch and cable 25, 23. Also the carriage 1 supports a gantry 9 raisable by chains 16 driven by a prime mover 19 and comprising rails 10 on which run carriages 15 driven by a sprocket and chain drive 12, 20. The carriages 15 support material moving members comprising blades 13, Fig. 4, having a leading scraper edge 26 and rear blades 28 connected thereto by ribs 27. In use with the conveyer and gantry raised the carriage 1 is moved to position them over a side door opening waggon. The blades 13 are positioned adjacent the ends of the waggon and the conveyer is lowered into the material after which the blades are lowered and moved towards the conveyer to feed material to it. The parts are progressively lowered until they contact the waggon floor and due to the configeration of the blades which can closely enclose the conveyer discharge the maximum amount of material.
