Abstract

1,022,503. Levelling railway tracks. MASCHINENFABRIK RUDOLF HAUSHERR & SOHNE G.m.b.H. Sept. 26, 1963 [Jan. 21, 1963], No. 37930/63. Headings E1F and E1G. Pneumatic or electric hammers 15 with projecting tools 16 on the base of a box-like shovel 5, vertically and horizontally pivotably mounted on vehicle chassis 1 (Fig. 1) are used to break up rock 17 to level ground for re-laying a railway track in a coal mine. The shovel lifting means is previously used to lift and deposit the track on one side, after the track has been distorted by rock swelling, and column 3 is pivotable so that the shovel can swing to drop debris in a truck on an adjacent track or on to a belt (Fig. 2, not shown). Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates the machine mounted on a truck (19) for transport or in use in scraping material (22) from between rails (20). Rollers 21 on the shovel engage rails (20), and the shovel width corresponds to the track gauge, Fig. 4 (not shown) illustrates the shovel tilted and its hammers attacking rock from above. Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) illustrate a pusher in the shovel 5, actuated to expel material therefrom. Guides are provided for the pusher, and the piston of its driving cylinder may be double or single acting, or two cylinder piston devices may move the pusher, one in each direction. The machine is self-propelled on tracks 2, powered by separate hydraulic motors and cylinders 6, 7 &c. are hydraulic.
