Abstract

793,206. Manure spreaders. GRAY, E. T. Y. Nov. 29, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955], No. 34643/55. Class 6(1). A manure spreader is arranged to be coupled to a tipping trailer, material being fed to the spreader as the trailer is tipped up. As shown, the spreader comprises a conveyer 22 and a conveyer 23 which feed material to a distributing member 29, the member 29 and conveyers 22, 23 being driven by means of a motor on the spreader. The spreader is provided at each side with a three-legged jack 80 which raises the spreader into position as the trailer is backed after hinge members on the spreader are engaged on spigots 88 carried by the trailer. The spreader is retained in position by means of latches 85. In a modification the spreader is raised into position by means of cables attached to the trailer and moved by a hand-operated winch. The spreader may be raised into position by chains connected to the trailer and moved by pulleys as an incidence to tipping the trailer to raise the spreader into position.
