Abstract

1,027,169. Hopper discharge means. F. LYTHGOE. Feb. 25, 1964 [Jan. 19, 1963], No. 2427/63. Headings B8E and B8S. [Also in Division B7] A hopper, preferably mounted on a trailer chassis, receives material directly from a discharge lorry and in turn is discharged, e.g. into a spreader, by tipping the hopper towards a discharge conveyer. A hopper 22 is pivoted at 21 on a chassis 10 of a trailer the wheels 15 of which are supported on legs 13 pivoted at 12 on the chassis and operable by rams 16 between an elevated trailing position and a lowered position, in which the trailer is supported by feet 46 on the ground. The front end of the hopper is open except for removable boards so that a lorry can back up ramps, if necessary into the hopper, to tip material directly into it while the front end has sloped plates to direct material to a discharge opening from which it is conveyed by a screw or other elevator 31, to be discharged over a deflector 45 into a spreader 53. For discharging the hopper is tipped towards its discharge end by a ram 42. The rams and screw elevator are controlled by valves 20, 43, 44 controlling the fluid supply from a pump to the rams and an hydraulic motor 33.
