Abstract

592,560. Lawn-mowers. WEBB & CO., Ltd., H. C., and TAYLOR, F. W. May 18, 1945, No. 12647. [Class 6 (ii)] A lawn-mower driven by an electric motor mounted on the machine has the motor-control switch operated by a lever 11 which requires to be held against or closely alongside one of the handles 3 of the mower in order to maintain the switch in the " on " position. In the construction shown the switch is mounted on the handle shaft 2, and from the switch extends a lead 4 for the power supply, a lead 5 connected to the motor which is in the roller 8, and a Bowden cable 9 connected to lever 11. Both the switch, which may be a tubular switch, and the lever 11 are spring-controlled, whereby on releasing the lever it moves away from the handle and relieves cable 9 of its pull on the switch which then moves to the " off " position.
