619,005. Lawn-mowers. WORTHINGTON, E. H. Nov. 19, 1946, No. 34216. Convention date, Dec. 3, 1945. [Class 6 (ii)] A lawn-mower comprises a framework, ground wheels A, a rotary cutter E driven by gearing from said wheels, a shaft O journalled in a supporting frame L driven by a motor Q, a handle J for guiding purposes and also for moving the frame L relative to the mower framework thereby moving the shaft into and out of engagement with the wheels A. The frame L pivots about the point K whereon the roller H rotates. A storage battery S supplies power to the electric motor Q, both being mounted on the frame L thereby biassing wheels P on the shaft O into engagement with the wheels A. A tensioning device U is connected to the handle J and comprises a pivot pin U<SP>1</SP>, a spring U<SP>2</SP>, an abutment U<SP>3</SP> and a stop U<SP>4</SP>-the rod U 'passing through a member T<SP>2</SP> on the storage battery retaining part T. By moving the handle J the contact pressure between the wheels P and A can be varied. U.S.A. Specification 1,866,380 is referred to.
