Abstract
559,726. Pumps driven by vehicle wheels MILNER, C. E. Aug. 18, 1943, No. 12399/42. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Groups XXVI and XXXI] A centrifugal or other water pump h is driven from one of the driven road wheels of a vehicle by means of a ramp a carrying,a pair of rollers e, e<SP>1</SP>, the roller e being rotatably mounted on the pump spindle band connectible to it by a clutch i, j. The latter is held in its engaged and disengaged positions by a spring-loaded ball detent m. The spindle c of the roller e' carries a pulley o which may be used to drive a circular saw, chaff cutter, or other small machine. To scotch the roller e<SP>1</SP> and permit the driven road wheel to roll off the ramp, the spindle c may carry a non-circular member p for engagement with a complementary hole in one end of a detachable lever q, the other end of which contacts the ground.
