Abstract
592,272. Windscreens. WILLYS-OVERLAND MOTORS, Inc. March 6, 1945, No. 5587. Convention date, Jan. 24, 1944. [Class 20 (iii)] A vehicle windshield comprising a tubular frame is pivotally attached by a bolt 66 to the upper flattened end 30 of a reinforced curved bracket 17, this bracket in turn being attached to the cowl 15 of the vehicle by means of a bolt 20 passing through its other flattened end 19 and a bolt 27 passing through a reinforcing sleeve 25, both bolts passing through a reinforcing plate 21 under the cowl. A thumb screw 76 passes through aligned holes in two brackets 72, 74 secured to the windshield and the bracket 17 respectively so that when the thumbscrew is screwed home the shield is held in its normal upright position and when released the shield can be forwardly opened. A strip of flexible material 55 closes the gap between the shield and the cowl. A chain is attached to the thumbscrew to prevent its being lost.
