Abstract

672,557. Perambulator handles. CROMWELL TUBE & PLATING CO., Ltd. Feb. 16, 1951 [March 2, 1950], No. 5247/50. Class 108(ii) Each side-arm 1 of a folding handle for perambulators, push chairs. &c. has a pin and slot connection 3. 4 with an attachment plate 6 having spaced longitudinal flanges or stop surfaces 7 extending for a portion of its length. The pin 3 may (as shown). be carried by the arm 1 and the slot 4 formed in the plate 6, or vice-versa. The bolt 3 carries a wing nut 5 by which the parts 1, 6 may be clamped, to hold the handle either in the inoperative (as shown in Fig. 2), or operative positions. In moving the handle to the operative position it is turned down about the axis of the bolts 3 until the ends of the arms 1 are in line with the flanges 7. The handle is then pushed forwardly until the nuts 5 can be tightened in a position just forwardly of nut-retaining bosses 11. The flanges 7 then prevent rotation of the handle which is also held by the clamping action of the nuts 5. The plate 6 is screwed ,riveted or welded to a back plate 9. The bosses 11 may be formed by raising up part of the plate 6 or by turning up the edges of the slot to form lugs or flanges.
