Abstract

589,989. Flexible torque-transmitting couplings. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV-UND MASCHINENFABRIK. April 6, 1945, No. 8598. Convention date, March 31, 1944. [Class 80 (ii)] Torque is transmitted from a gear wheel 3 to a member 2 by springs 8 each in two parts separated by a member 10, 11. The member 10, 11, is slidable, but not radially displaceable, in end caps 4, 5, carried in a housing 7 on the wheel 3, the ends 17 of the caps abutting faces 21 on the member 2. The springs are arranged tangential to the parts 2, 3, and additional springs 18 may be located within the springs 8. The invention may be applied to individual axle drives or to spring-mounted wheels of rail vehicles.
