Abstract

650,888. Universal joints. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Jan. 2,1948, No. 133. [Class 80(ii)] A resilient torque transmitting coupling, shown as applied to an electric locomotive driving wheel, and permitting universal movement, comprises rubber or similar resilient members 1 tangentially disposed between a driving spider 4 and a coaxial wheel 3 so positioned that some convey the torque in compression and all the remainder in tension. The cylindrical members 1 are arranged in pairs, the adjacent faces of each pair being attached to a wheel spoke and the remote faces to the spider, by means of bonded plates 2.
