564,742. Resilient torque -transmitting couplings. GEE, N. E. Feb. 1, 1943, No. 1655. [Class 80 (ii)] A resilient drive is transmitted between a driving wheel of an electric locomotive and a spider by a pair of rubber tubular sleeves 10 enclosing a cylindrical solid core 14, the flanged ends 11 of the sleeves being clamped by housings 10a to a spider and the closed ends 13 thereof abutting driving pads 17 on the driving wheel 18. A plate 15 separates the flanges 11. Thus, when a torque is transmitted, one of the sleeves 10 is compressed and the other is stretched. The cylindrical wall of the sleeves adjacent the flanges may be conical, the adjacent faces of the housings being made to correspond.
