Abstract
983,521. Universal joints. CESKOSLOVENSKE ZAVODY NAFTOVYCH MOTORU PRAHA NARODNI PODNIK. Sept. 5, 1962 [Sept. 5, 1961], No. 34083/62. Heading F2U. A marine elastic coupling between driving and driven discs 3, 4, has a non-linear torquedeflection characteristic (Fig. 1, not shown), and comprises two sets of rubber blocks 1, 2, wherein torque is initially transmitted solely by the first set 1 in shear and, after relative rotation, between the discs, additionally by the second set 2 in compression. The rubber blocks 1 are bonded to flanges 1<SP>1</SP> secured by studs to the discs 3, 4, and, the rubber blocks 2 are similarly secured to ribs 5, welded on the drive disc 3, and arranged in pairs, spaced and opposed each side of ribs 6 fast with the driven disc 4.
