Abstract

588,680. Two-part couplings. CLARK, C. W. March 2, 1945, No. 5281. [Class 38 (i)] A connector comprises a cap 4 and a housing 1 for contacts 2 with contactmaking portions 7 and wire-gripping end portions 3 formed from metal strip. Tongues 6 on the legs of the contacts co-operate with shoulders in the housing to prevent the contacts being withdrawn downwards. A V-shaped ridge 5 on the cap forces the ends of the legs apart and thereby causes the wire to be held more tightly. The contact-portion may be apertured and the legs curved to receive a plug-pin. The Provisional Specification describes a modification in which the contactmaking portion is at an end of the strip and the other end has a hump threaded through an intermediate slot to form an eye.
