585,087. Knitting-machines. SCOTT & WILLIAMS, Inc. Aug. 6, 1943, No. 12768. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1942. [Class 74 (ii)] [Also in Groups IX and XXIV] Each of the conical yarn-feeding members 9 of the furnishing mechanism of a knitting or winding machine is provided with a facing comprising a conical unit 10 of rubber or like resilient material. The facing has an inwardly extending flange 11 arranged to embrace the member 9, and an outer surface having intersecting ribs providing strand-engaging areas. Spring- controlled guides having arms 42, 43 with yarndirecting eyes are provided for leading the yarns in paths at different distances from the smaller ends of the members 9. Each guide is provided with a shoulder 45 arranged upon breakage or failure of a yarn to engage a plate 49 forming part of an electrical stop motion. The plate 49 is carried by a rocker member 46 oscillated by an eccentric upon a shaft 16 driving one of the feeding members 9.
