Abstract

603,003. Feeding or forwarding yarns in doubling &c. machines. SCRAGG, Ltd., S. & E., and SCRAGG,S. Nov. 16. 1945. No. 30696. [Class 120 (ii) ] [Also in Group XXIV] A yarn feeding or forwarding device for a textile doubling, twisting or like machine comprises a driven wheel with a substantially V - shaped peripheral groove, one side of which has a smooth surface disposed at the base of the groove in a plane at right angles to the axis of the wheel, the other side being formed with depressions or openings which extend to the base of the groove. The wheel is preferably constructed from two discs A, C, Fig. 8, the disc C being recessed to receive the conical end of disc A. The yarn is given an almost complete turn round the wheel and is led off through a guide N, Fig. 1, carried on the end of a lever O connected to a stop motion. If the yarn breaks the guide N rises to actuate the stop motion.
