Abstract
660,049. Creels; tension devices. COURTAULDS, Ltd., ATKINS, A. AMBROSE-, AVERNS, H. M., and WALKER, A. Feb. 2, 1950 [Feb. 3, 1949], No. 2967/49. Class 142(iv). Each yarn runs horizontally from a tension device near the bobbin to another tension device at the front of the creel, then through a guide eye to the swift (or other collector) so that if the swift is turned backwards the yarns remain taut and horizontal between the tension devices; intermediate guides are provided between the tension devices if the run is long. The tension devices, Fig. 3, comprise three or more pins 12 and discs 15, 16, the yarn passing between the discs and between the pins and its deflection by the pins being variable by turning the base 10; the disc 15 may be secured to the base 10 or may be omitted; weighting washers may be placed on the disc 16.
