798,955. Twisting yarns &c. ARUNDEL, COULTHARD & CO., Ltd.' Oct. 24, 1956 [Nov. 14, 1955], No. 32452/55. Addition to 745,598. Class 120(2) The yarn or tyre cord doubling machine claimed in the parent Specification is modified by locating some of the uptwisting spindles in line with the doubling spindles and some partly in front of the first line of uptwisting spindles. Where two uptwisting spindles are associated with one doubling spindle, yarns from two spindles b pass round guide pegs e and f to the doubling spindle k. The pegs e, f are mounted on a traverse bar m. A pair of doubling spindles k on opposite sides of the machine are driven from one belt and the uptwisting spindles b are grouped in fours for driving, rearward pairs on both sides of the machine being driven by one belt and outer pairs by another. Each doubling spindle k and its associated pair of uptwisting spindles b may be stopped simultaneously by a pedal brake that pivots brake pads to engage the spindle wharves.
