Abstract

584,377. Ventilating ships. FLUOR CORPORATION, Ltd. March 17, 1944, No. 5018. Convention date, July 19, 1943. [Class 137] One or more ship's compartments 11-14 and a zone 38 containing combustible vapours are ventilated by conduits 23, 29, 40 with dampered inlets through which air is withdrawn by the ejector action of gases exhausting from an engine 16 in another compartment 15 below deck, to which access is obtained through a duct 18 serving also as a cool air inlet duct. The engine room is also ventilated by conduit 23 and warm air over the engine may be exhausted through a duct 26 ; and fresh air is supplied to the other compartments through ducts 27, 28. Check valves 33 may be provided to prevent back flow of air or exhaust.
