Abstract

1,203,837. 837. Cooling cylinders; silencing gaseous flow. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU NOBAS NORDHAUSEN VEB. June 25, 1968, No.30245/68. Heading F1B. An I.C. engine is enclosed within a casing 10 having a cooling air inlet 1 and a cooling air outlet 9 communicating with an air guide duct 7 within the casing. The inlet and outlet are constructed as sound absorbing channels and are arranged to suppress the mechanical noise of the engine. The engine exhaust silencer 8 is arranged within the duct 7 and the exhaust tail pipe extends into the outlet 9 so that the exhaust noise is further suppressed. A fan 4 distributes cooling air across the engine.
