Abstract

1,093,414. Portable engines. KLOCKNER HUMBOLDT DEUTZ A.G. Nov. 27, 1964 [Jan. 16, 1964], No. 48286/64. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F1] A portable pump installation comprises a gas turbine 3 driving a centrifugal pump 1 through a transmission 2 and is mounted upon a frame 5 supported on skids 4. Air is supplied to the turbine through a duct 6 and the exhaust pipe of the gas turbine is extended by a duct 8 enclosed within a container 11 having inner and outer walls 13, 12 and a gas seal 9. Air is drawn into the duct 8 from the double walls of the container 11 and over guide members 15 which cause it to mix with and cool the exhaust gases. The installation is for use in an atmosphere of explosive gases above which the air intake and exhaust extend. In modifications, Figs. 2 and 3, flameproof air filters 21 and 17 are provided through which the exhaust cooling air passes and in Fig. 4 the cooling air is inspired from a box 25 within which the gas turbine is located. In another modification, a flexible exhaust duct is employed.
