1,083,584. Free-piston gas generators. SOCIETE D'ETUDES ET DE PARTICIPATIONS, EAU, GAZ, ELECTRICITE, ENERGIE, S. A. Nov.9, 1964 [Feb.7, 1964], No.45552/64. Heading F1Q. In a free-piston gas generator, a power cylinder 1 is disposed inside a casing 9 adapted to store air for supplying and scavenging the power cylinder, inlet ports 2 of the power cylinder communicate with an enclosure 16 at least the greater portion of which is within the casing and the enclosure defines around the inlet ports a space separated from the internal space of the casing but in communication therewith through a free opening longitudinally offset with respect to the inlet ports. In a modification the enclosure is wholly within the casing 9 and bounded by a wall substantially concentric with the power cylinder.
