Abstract
1443276 IC engine noise suppressing casings MOTORENFABRIK HATZ KG 16 Feb 1974 7175/74 Heading FIB An I.C. engine is surrounded by a noise suppressing jacket comprising sections 30, 34, (32), (36), Fig. 2 (not shown) detachably connected together and to a carrier plate 24 fastened between two adjacent housing members of the engine. In Fig. 1, the plate 24 is fastened between cylinder head 14 and valve casing 16 and the sections 30, (32), 34, (36) butt against a rubber strip 26. Cooling air is admitted via an opening 34a and leaves via a discharge connection 30a and a hole (24b) is provided in plate 24 to allow air to pass to a filter 56 and then to the engine via an induction conduit 58. Alternatively air may reach the filter through an opening in jacket section 38. The engine is supported on a base 44 by feet 46 which pass through openings (28a) in jacket section 28 and are surrounded by rubber grommets (48), Fig. 5 (not shown). A fuel tank (50) (Fig. 2) may be mounted on one section 34 of the jacket.
